The municipality of Gmund is now officially one of the bicycle-friendly municipalities in Bavaria.
Mayor Alfons Besel received the certificate at a ceremony in the Munich Scholastica.
Gmund - From the hands of Robert Niedergesäß, Chairman of the Working Group for Bicycle-Friendly Municipalities (AGFK) Bavaria, and Thomas Gruber, Ministerial Director and Head of the Bavarian Ministry of Transport, Gmund's mayor received the certificate that identifies the municipality as a bicycle-friendly municipality by 2030.
Gmund, which was also represented at the ceremony by managing director Florian Ruml and Dorit Guttenberg from the “Rethinking Agmunda Traffic-Mobility” working group as well as cycling representative Veronika Simon, was particularly praised for its bicycle protection lanes, high-quality parking facilities and public relations work.
In addition to Gmund, seven other AGFK member municipalities were honored, including Holzkirchen.
