This Friday morning, Place de la Concorde (8th arrondissement) officially launched the start of the major maneuvers with the start of the first works on site.

“The first trucks arrived today,” confirmed Laurent Nuñez, the Paris police prefect, this Friday during his progress update.

Place de la Concorde, which will host the 3 x 3 basketball, BMX Freestyle, breaking and skateboarding events, will undergo “a lengthy project” before being closed to traffic from June 1st.

Invalides (7th century), Trocadéro (16th century), Champ-de-Mars (VII)… “We will gradually cut off traffic at these sites so that at one point we will no longer be able to circulate,” warned the prefect of police this Friday.

The former Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior thus confirmed the closure of the Jacques-Chirac quay (7th and 16th centuries) from July 14, that of the Alma bridge (7th century) from July 8 or that of the Royal Bridge (I) on July 15.

“We will have final configurations from the end of May, beginning of June,” said Laurent Nuñez.

Soon diverted routes on the Champs-de-Mars for pedestrians

In the wake of the Place de la Concorde, it is on the Champ-de-Mars that the workers should soon be active.

According to the schedule detailing the different phases of setting up the sites, the Eiffel Tower Stadium (beach volleyball, blind football) should begin to emerge from this Monday, March 4.

Pedestrian routes for local residents and tourists will then be diverted.

On the side of the Trocadéro gardens, where the Olympic champions will be acclaimed in the Champions Park, the first works are announced from March 20.

With a traffic disruption expected from April on Avenue du Président-Wilson.
