Higher and longer: Investor Robert Decker has to replan the pedestrian bridge he applied for to the Meindl area.

After this change in plans, the railway holds out the prospect of its approval.

Dorfen

– train tracks are life-threatening.

This became horribly clear during the terrible accident on Nonsense Thursday in Dorfen.

Many in the city are all the more hoping for a pedestrian bridge to the Meindl area.

Investor Robert Decker has promised to build a temporary structure at his own expense.

The city's building committee has had the green light for this since July.

The application is now in the district office for processing.

And Decker has to reschedule, as he confirmed when asked by our newspaper.

“The railway gave us a whole range of issues to work on,” reports the entrepreneur.

The bridge would have to be one meter higher and almost ten meters longer.

“That puts a lot of demands on us,” says Decker – and he also means the investment amount.

Originally there was talk of construction costs of 100,000 euros.

The background at that time was, of course, accommodation for asylum seekers in the area, which Decker had applied for at the same time.

The building committee rejected this again in July.

The building authority in the district office needs a positive opinion from DB Immobilien AG for its decision, says spokesman Markus Hautmann when asked.

After an initial negative statement from the railway, Decker was asked to make changes to the plan, the spokesman for the district office confirms.

As soon as Deutsche Bahn AG signals its approval in a preliminary vote, the amendment proposal will be submitted again to the city of Dorfen.

If the community's consent is given there, it will be the district office's turn again.

Administrative step by administrative step, the project is now making slow progress.

Alexander Pawlik, project manager for the large ABS38 railway expansion project at DB Netze AG, reveals one of the next steps.

“There will be an on-site meeting out there next week,” he reported in an interview with our newspaper.

Everyone involved is aware of the consequences, especially after the tragic accident in which a young villager died.

He had verbally signaled to Decker his general approval of the project some time ago.

However, says Pawlik: “I don’t have the application yet in such a way that we can put a green stamp on it straight away.”

It is also important to locate the bridge in such a way that it does not have to be moved again when the double-track railway expansion is implemented, says the project manager.

“We want to get it to the final position so that it can stay there for as long as possible.”

Independently, the future train station will have a passenger underpass.

However, this will only come with the completion of the mammoth ABS38 project - according to Pawlik's current forecast, in the mid-2030s.

The Meindl brickworks used to have its own railway crossing.

But this was closed in April 2022; the decision to do so had been made years before.

The background is the double-track expansion including electrification between Munich and Mühldorf and beyond.

This also involves the complete renovation of the signal box technology.

When the factory was transferred, the signalman's house there was also put out of operation.

At this point in time, in spring 2022, Tonwerk was again working its way out of the Corona hole for the entire club scene.

Since then, more and more people have been coming to the Meindl area because of the civil service academy or the Montessori kindergarten.

This is a difficult situation for the Tonwerk operators.

Security has been deployed along the track in the past for larger outdoor events.

Otherwise, Decker relies on barriers: a fence that is constantly checked and a wall made of tree trunks and containers directly at the old railway crossing.

“We blocked everything up for over 750 meters,” said Decker.

What particularly annoys him: “We still don’t have a solution for the B15.” This is the only access road for the entire area.

There is a lack of safe footpaths, cycle paths and crossings around the B15 railway crossing.

The investor criticizes that nothing has happened since a meeting nine months ago.
