The big sister of a teenager suspected of having planned, with four other minors, to attack the Israeli embassy in Belgium, was indicted on Friday in Paris, we learned from judicial sources close to the case .
This is the fifth person indicted in relation to this planned attack attributed to a group of teenagers, who are the subject of investigations carried out by the Belgian and French anti-terrorism judicial authorities.
They are suspected of having wanted to attack an embassy with “a projected truck, filled with explosives” and “an armed assault team”, according to a police source.
The young woman, aged 20, arrested on Monday in Indre-et-Loire and indicted on Friday for terrorist conspiracy with a view to preparing one or more crimes of personal injury, is the sister of " one of the people previously indicted” in France, said the judicial source.
“Not one of the brains behind the project”
“Her indictment is based on the support she allegedly gave to her brother in his plan for violent action, by being committed to jihadist ideology,” added this source.
She is notably suspected of having provided the recipe for making explosives and of having contributed to the radicalization of her brother, according to a police source.
“He is not one of the masterminds of the violent action project,” however, clarifies a source close to the matter.
Unlike her brother, she was placed under judicial supervision.
Contacted, his lawyer, Me Souleymen Rakrouki, did not wish to comment.
According to the first elements of the investigations of which AFP was aware, the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) identified several encrypted messaging groups: one where teenagers discussed the manufacture of explosive devices, one on the arms purchase, another on the planned cyberattack on the embassy site.
Investigators also note “preparatory acts” from April 2023, including those of two teenagers, described as “fascinated” by the ideology of the Islamic State group, who manufactured explosive devices and filmed themselves testing them.
The latter were also “in contact with other individuals involved in violent action projects on national territory”, notes the police source.
Investigations continue.
