, the police found a Molotov cocktail as well as ammunition and magazines for firearms in the car in front of the barracks.
The car is said to belong to the Bundeswehr soldier who allegedly shot four people in the Rotenburg district.

“A motive in the family environment cannot be ruled out,” explain the investigators.

Scheeßel – major alarm in the middle of the night.
At around 3:30 a.m. shots were fired in the Westervesede district of Scheeßel on Friday (March 1st), and ten minutes later in Bothel, 15 kilometers away.
The police speak of a “capital crime”.
Four people are dead, including a child.

The suspected perpetrator: A Bundeswehr soldier who turned himself in at the Rotenburg barracks at dawn.
As the
district newspaper
reports, the man was arrested without resistance.
The police have not yet provided any precise information about the motive or the victims.
Police spokesman Heiner van der Werp made it clear that it was a “family story”.
The public prosecutor's office left it open whether the suspect works at the Rotenburg barracks.
The investigation is in full swing, explosives experts and military police are on duty.

A large contingent was alerted during the night.
“Everything that was available was in use,” reports van der Werp.
These include emergency services from the Lower Saxony state police as well as federal police, emergency services with machine guns at Rotenburg train station and a helicopter.
