The Norwegian company Statkraft, one of the largest producers of renewable energy in Europe, recorded its second best result ever globally in 2023.
In Italy, where it has been present since 2020, Statkraft has projects in development of wind, solar agrivoltaic and storage systems for over 5.3 Gigawatts, with some projects which will go to investment decisions already this year.
The company's net operating revenues in 2023 were 5.7 billion euros, compared to 7.5 billion the previous year, when the European energy crisis caused extraordinarily high prices and strong volatility.
Underlying EBIT decreased to 3.6 billion euros compared to 5.4 billion euros in 2022, mainly due to significantly lower energy prices.
Profit after tax was 2.3 billion euros, compared to 2.8 billion euros a year earlier.
Statkraft has signed an agreement for approximately 1.8 billion euros to acquire the Spanish company Enerfin, an international renewable energy player with a portfolio of 1,500 MW of wind energy in operation and under construction.
In hydroelectric and wind power in Norway, Statkraft has announced plans for investments of between 4 and 6 billion euros.
"Globally we continue to develop an important pipeline of projects with further investments decided in 2023 for 1.3 Gw, aiming for the ambitious annual target of 2.5 - 3Gw of new renewable energy capacity by 2025", commented Bernardo Ricci Armani , Country Manager Italy.
