Program

DAY 1 Friday June 14, 2024

DIJON • NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES • DOMAINE FAIVELEY • VOSNE-ROMANÉE • DOMAINE ALBERT MOROT • BEAUNE

Meet at Lyon station and depart by 1st class TGV for Dijon.

07:56 a.m.:

Departure from Paris Gare de Lyon by TGV.

9:31 a.m.:

Arrival at Dijon station, then departure by Beaune coach on the Grands Crus route.

Our wine epic begins here, on a legendary route which runs for 60 kilometers between Dijon and Santenay.

A good excuse to tame the two sub-regions of the Côte d'Or: the mythical Côte de Nuits, kingdom of pinot noir, where the wines are treasures that have belonged to the heritage for centuries, and the Côte de Beaune where you can identify the specificities of the 1,247 “climats” of Burgundy.

A journey through 2,000 years of history in a mosaic of ancestral know-how and terroirs listed as UNESCO world heritage sites since 2015.

Visit and tasting at Domaine Faiveley.

Located in

Nuits-Saint-Georges

, the house was founded by Pierre Faiveley in 1825. In seven generations, the estate has transformed to become one of the largest in Burgundy: 10 hectares of grands crus and nearly 27 hectares of premiers crus, including monopoly climats such as the Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru Clos des Issarts or the Corton grand cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley, the flagship of the Burgundian vineyard.

Discover its wines which reveal the greatest terroirs of Burgundy in a style which combines power, finesse and elegance after precise aging in oak barrels and maturity acquired in the house's 19th century vaulted cellars.

Lunch at the restaurant.

Then, we will head towards the

village of Vosne-Romanée

, nicknamed the “middle pearl of the Burgundian necklace”.

We will organize a walk to discover some of the great wines of the village, including: Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Romanée, Task, Grande-Rue, Richebourg, Échezeaux and Grandeséchezeaux.

A great opportunity to stretch your legs and discover a village steeped in history while admiring a beautiful panorama of the hill, which offers a view of the climates, of Clos-Vougeot or the summit of Mont Blanc when the weather is nice.

Visit and wine tasting at Domaine Albert Morot.

In 1820, Albert Morot founded a trading house.

At the end of the 1880s, his granddaughter bought 7 hectares of vines and built the Château de Creusotte (1898) in Beaune, the current headquarters of the company which houses the cellars.

In 1984, Françoise Choppin, descendant of Albert Morot, succeeded her brother and decided to cease the trading activity.

From January 2000, Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry was in charge of the estate.

Since 2023, this pretty family estate has been managed by a couple of entrepreneurs Sophie and Guillaume Poitrinal.

Composed almost exclusively of premier crus, its 8 hectares are cultivated organically.

Bressandes, Grèves, Marconnets, Cent-Vignes, Teeuros, Aigrots and Toussaints shape this historic estate.

They also own Clos de Bataillere, a 2-hectare monopoly in the Savigny-Les-Beaune premier cru appellation, white and red, located in the exceptional climate of Vergelesses.

To the first growths are added a Beaune and a Pommard Village.

The estate produces 12 vintages each year for around 50,000 bottles of pure and distinguished wines, highlighting the identity and typicality of each of its terroirs.

Departure to Beaune and check-in at the Le Cep***** hotel.

Dinner at the Loiseau des Vignes restaurant.

Night at the Le Cep***** hotel.

DAY 2

Saturday June 15, 2024

BEAUNE • DOMAINE CHANSON • MAISON JOSEPH DROUHIN

This second day in Burgundy will begin with a foray into

Domaine Chanson

.

Understand the great terroirs of Burgundy and their nuances.

Tame them, preserving their soils and biodiversity.

Put their expressions in a bottle, with transparency and precision.

Since 1750, Domaine Chanson has dedicated this careful know-how to sublimating each of its plots.

Its pinot noir and chardonnay vines deserve this respect: 43 hectares managed in organic farming in Côte de Beaune, including the marvelous Monopole Clos des Fèves in Beaune premier cru, and 50 hectares in Côte Chalonnaise, including the prestigious Clos l'Évêque in Mercury.

This rich and fascinating heritage is cherished by the women and men of the Domaine: within the confines of the Bastion de Beaune, an extraordinary 15th century air cellar, the aging of the wines follows demanding gestures, passed down from generation to generation.

But this passionate, committed and united team is also resolutely focused on the future.

It is by tirelessly improving its practices and exploring new avenues that the estate continues to surprise lovers of quality vintages, vintage after vintage.

Because more than producing great wines, it is authentic emotions that Domaine Chanson wishes to share by cultivating its closeness to terroirs, nature and people every day.

Lunch at Chanson house in Beaune.

We will end the afternoon with a visit to

Domaine Joseph Drouhin

, a master craftsman in terms of wines, considered by wine lovers to be from the best quality of Beaune.

An illustrious trading house, founded in 1880, which gradually developed from the cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France to the Moulin de Vaudon, in Chablis.

Today, 80 hectares are farmed there in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Chablis, making the estate one of the largest in Burgundy.

Among its star plots, Clos des Mouches, in the extreme south of the Beaune appellation, near Pommard.

A wine that comes in Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, marked by incredible finesse both in white with spicy and floral notes and in red, characterized by silky tannins and aromas of bright red fruits.

Return to Beaune.

Dinner at the Le Benaton restaurant (one star in the Michelin Guide)

Night at the Le Cep ***** hotel.

DAY 3

Sunday June 16, 2024

BEAUNE • HOSPICES DE BEAUNE • DOMAINE JEAN CHARTRON • CLOS-VOUGEOT • DIJON • PARIS

Guided tour of the Hospices de Beaune.

Enter the depths of one of the most legendary places in Greater Burgundy, home of the largest and oldest charity auction in the world.

The history of the Hospices begins in 1443 when Nicolas Rolin, then chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife Guigone de Salins decided, in a context of poverty and famine, to found the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune: “A palace for les pôvres", a true masterpiece of architecture, known worldwide and famous for the splendor of its main courtyard without forgetting the splendor of its roofs with multicolored and glazed tiles.

A dive into history awaits you.

Visit and tasting in the vineyards of the Jean Chartron estate.

Founded in 1859 by journeyman cooper Jean-Édouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has seen five generations, all concerned with the development and prosperity of the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet vineyard.

Today, Domaine Jean Chartron owns 14 hectares of vines in Puligny-Montrachet and neighboring towns, where it produces great Burgundy wines on the Côte de Beaune, one of the greatest terroirs for white wines, the vast majority of which is classified into premiers and grands crus.

Three of these vines have also been held in monopoly by Domaine Jean Chartron since 1917: Puligny-Montrachet premier cru “Clos de la Pucelle”, Puligny-Montrachet premier cru “Clos du Cailleret”, Chevalier-Montrachet grand cru “Clos des Knights.”

It produces 22 appellations, including 11 in Puligny-Montrachet, with a predominance for white wines (90% of production).

With an average age of 40 years, its vines are managed with the greatest respect for the environment.

Thus, from growing the vines to bottling, everything takes place with the purest respect for tradition.

Discovering Domaine Jean Chartron is entering a world full of emotions, rigor and perfection with wines produced with the deepest respect for the terroir and the greatest tradition.

Lunch in an inn.

Private tour of Clos-Vougeot.

Another monument of Burgundy with this one kilometer long vineyard which slopes gently down a hillside towards the departmental road which leads from Dijon to Beaune.

Here stands the cradle of regional viticulture and one of the most prestigious sites in the world: Clos-Vougeot.

A grand cru planted in the village of Vougeot which takes its name from the Vouge, a river which crosses the village.

Facing due east, in other words towards the rising sun, Clos-Vougeot was born in the 12th century when the monks of Cîteaux Abbey built wine-growing buildings in the middle of the vineyards before the building was completed in the 16th century by various dwellings in the purest Renaissance style.

The clos is made up of nearly 51 hectares of vines whose king and only grape variety is pinot noir.

A nectar from the Côte de Nuits described as “divine” by most fans who have been able to taste this exceptional beverage, like the wines of Château de la Tour, the only estate to be located within the enclosure itself.
