Anyone who takes a taxi in Munich will soon have to dig deeper into their pockets - that's what the city council has decided.
Our sample calculations show what this means in concrete terms.
Munich – Taking a taxi in the state capital is currently anything but cheap.
But from April it will become even more expensive - the city council recently decided that.
Then the basic price will rise from the current 5.30 euros to 5.50 euros and the kilometer price from 2.30 euros to 2.50 euros.
And that's not all, because from January 2025 things will get even worse: that's when the next price increase will begin.
The basic price should then be 5.70 euros and the kilometer price 2.70 euros.
We simply calculated what this actually means for common journeys in Munich.
Shopping enthusiasts who want to be driven from the west to the east of the state capital, from the “Pasing Arcaden” to the “Riem Arcaden”, currently pay 51.30 euros for the 20-kilometer route (under normal circumstances).
From April this trip will cost 55.50 euros.
And from January 2025 you will pay 59.70 euros - an increase of more than 16 percent compared to today.

More than 50 euros for an 18 kilometer taxi ride
Anyone who wants to go to an FC Bayern game at the Allianz Arena after a visit to Hellabrunn Zoo has to travel 18 kilometers - and currently pays 46.70 euros for a taxi.
Things will look different in a few weeks, when it will already be 50.50 euros.
And from 2025, an impressive 54.30 euros will be due.
Even culture lovers are not exempt from taxi prices.
A two-kilometer journey from the German Museum to the Bavarian State Opera is currently less than 10 euros - 9.90 euros.
From April it will be 10.50 euros, from next January 11.10 euros.
The prices for fixed taxi connections will also adjust to the increase
But not only the basic price and kilometer price will increase, the fixed prices for certain journeys will also increase.
From April onwards, the journey from the airport to the Munich trade fair (or vice versa) will cost 90 instead of 85 euros.
Next year 94 euros will be due.
Anyone who wants to go directly from Munich Airport to the main train station will pay 101 euros from April and 106 euros from January 2025.
The price for the direct connection between Messe München and the main train station will initially rise to 41 euros and then to 43 euros.
