The board of the Eichenried women's community is having difficulty finding successors.
The future of the club hangs in the balance.
Eichenried – Two years ago, the Eichenried Catholic Women’s Community celebrated its 100th anniversary.
At the annual general meeting, however, it became clear that the continued existence of the community is still hanging by a thread.
Chairwoman Renate Schraufstetter, treasurer Gerlinde Ratberger and secretary Hannelore Adam will be at the helm until the end of the year.
Then they want to hand over their posts.
That should actually have happened in 2022.
Since no successors were found at the time, the trio agreed to take on the tasks until the end of 2024 (we reported).
So far, however, no successor has been determined, particularly for the chairmanship.
The search is difficult, “because nowadays practically all women work and also have to look after children.
So far, no one really wants to be at the forefront because they don't trust themselves to do so," explained Schraufstetter, who has been chairwoman since 2009.
And so she will continue to try to find one or more successors.
She hopes to recruit volunteers to chair the team, “so that individual women are only responsible for one activity at a time.
Then it wouldn’t be so much work for everyone.”
The membership list, which currently numbers 213 women, shows that the continued existence of the community is important.
“Especially the senior citizens who come for a leisurely afternoon feel a great need to meet up with others, as for some it is often the only opportunity for contact,” emphasized Schraufstetter and added: “When next year after the new elections If more and more younger women were to get involved, more ideas would certainly arise for this group of people.”
Church activities such as praying the Way of the Cross and the October rosaries, decorating a Corpus Christi altar and a joint trip to Altötting could only be continued with a new board.
The new pastoral officer Maria Döring gave the members high praise.
What she clearly feels in the parish association is a feeling of togetherness: “In many areas the church is still alive here, and the many different groups are trying to support each other.
I noticed that straight away.”
She is also positive about the fact that there are so many women's communities within the St. Anna im Moosrain parish association: “It is important that we women have a voice in the church.
And we can help shape church life, even if we are not allowed to stand behind the altar.” yes
