The mayor of Monfalcone (Gorizia) Anna Maria Cisint was placed under protection after a series of assessments regarding the risks she runs for her safety.

The Northern League mayor has received death threats via social media.
She made this known herself by relating these to the administrative measures passed a few weeks ago, which ordered the closure of some mosques which, according to Cisint, were illegal.
Not an attack on freedom of worship, the mayor has always maintained, but the ban on using premises with a different purpose than those for which they were used: There "you can no longer pray, they are not centers of worship, they are not mosques".
And she appealed for "civilization and respect for public order and legality".
