60 Million Consumers

put single-use masks to the test.

17 products were thus selected and tested according to different criteria.

The composition of course but also the impact on health and the environment, particularly with the famous Cosmeto'Score (a rating developed by the National Institute of Consumption).

If the effectiveness is not judged, on the other hand the magazine sifts through the list of components to identify the undesirable ones (allergenic, endocrine disruptors like benzyl silicate, etc.) which penalize the lowest rated products even if the Recommended use being weekly, health risks remain limited.

Masks inherited from Korean beauty routines

Sheet masks, directly inherited from the Korean beauty routine, have invaded the shelves of beauty brands, with Sephora in the lead.

The “

one shot

” effect to be used just before a party, its affordable price but also the ease of use and the very varied, original and delicious scents (hot chocolate or coconut for example at Sephora) quickly made it one of the products darlings of the younger generation.

On social networks, many people promote them and encourage their use.

As for its effectiveness, the co-founder of the Erborian brand, Katalyn Berenyi (who has since resold her brand), explained to us: “Mechanically, the fabric mask acts much more optimally.

Woven in tight fibers, it wraps the face like a spa treatment and prevents the product from evaporating during application.

Especially since certain products contain more serum or cream than the dose that one would tend to apply with a classic mask.

The downside therefore remains single-use packaging which still makes them poor cosmeticians for the planet, generating plastic waste for single use.

Even if certain models in the image, those of the Sephora brand, are presented as compostable.
