Freilassing - A tragic work accident occurred on March 1st in Freilassing, in the Berchtesgadener Land district.
Two workers fell several meters from a roof at a train station construction site, with one being hit by falling objects.
A 32-year-old man lost his life, while a 26-year-old was seriously injured.
The Traunstein criminal police have begun investigations to precisely reconstruct the course of the accident.

“The police operations center was informed via the integrated control center (ILS) on Friday morning about a serious industrial accident in the city center of Freilassing,” says the police press release.
Emergency services from the fire department, the rescue service with an emergency doctor, the Freilassing police station and the federal police rushed to the train station, the scene of the incident.
An Austrian rescue helicopter was also in action.
Initial investigations revealed that two workers from a company were working on the roof on the platform at around 9:55 a.m.
“The panels were to be dismantled from the roof and later lifted down with the help of an excavator.
According to current knowledge, one of the workers, a 32-year-old, broke through the roof and fell several meters to the ground on the platform.
Several containers, some of which were filled with the dismantled roof panels, fell behind and fell on the 32-year-old,” said the police.
Numerous rescue workers were on duty.

Despite resuscitation measures being initiated immediately and continued by the emergency doctor, the 32-year-old, who lived in a community in the district, died at the scene of the accident.
The second worker, who also lives in the district, was seriously injured and taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.
According to doctors, his life is not in danger.
The investigations to precisely reconstruct the course of the accident were carried out by investigators from the responsible K1 department and forensics officers from the Traunstein criminal police station.
The Traunstein public prosecutor's office is in charge of the case.
In addition to 32 helpers from the Volunteer Fire Department from Freilassing and 12 helpers from the German rescue service, 6 members of the Austrian rescue service and an Austrian rescue helicopter were on duty.
