Twelve people were injured in an accident on Autobahn 27 near Cuxhaven, four of them seriously.
According to the current status of the investigation, a 28-year-old drove his car into the car of a 57-year-old on Thursday evening for initially unknown reasons and at high speed, the police said on Friday.
Her car was thrown against the side guard rail and stopped on the road. A 37-year-old in the fast lane recognized the situation and braked his car sharply.
Bremerhaven - A 27-year-old driver following him was no longer able to brake in time and rear-ended.
The 37-year-old's car was thrown against the woman's car.
In the accident between the Hagen and Stotel junctions, the person who caused the accident as well as an 80-year-old man and two women aged 59 and 30 who were sitting in the 57-year-old's car were seriously injured.
According to the current status, there is no danger to life.
Eight other people were slightly injured.
The highway was closed until early Friday morning for rescue measures, accident investigation and the recovery of the accident cars.
Except for the seriously injured, all those involved in the accident were released from the hospital.
