Italy's unemployment rate was stable at 7.2% in January, but the jobless rate for under-25s who are active on the labor market rose by 0.2 of a percentage point with respect to the previous month, taking it to 21.8%, Istatsaid on Friday.
The national statistics agency said the number of unemployed people in Italy fell by 4,000 on December, dropping to 1,838,000.
The proportion of working-age people who are not active on the labor market increased by 0.2 of a point to 33.3%, following a61,000 rise in the number of the 'inactive', Istat said.
The agency said the employment rate had fallen by 0.1 of a point to 61.8%.
It said the number of people in employment was down by 34,000 in January with respect to December but up by 362,000 compared to the same month in 2023.
