Marseille drug traffickers are now persona non grata in Hyères.
This measure, taken by prefectural decree a few days ago, now prevents any individual known
“for a criminal record relating to narcotics”
residing in Bouches-du-Rhône from
“driving or parking on public roads in the municipality of 'Hyères
without legitimate reason'
.
In a press release, the Var prefecture also indicated that requisitions had been taken to increase identity checks, the opening of vehicle trunks and the search of luggage in the Val des Rougières sector.
This city of Hyères, known for harboring vast drug trafficking, has become one of the priority targets of the department's authorities who are trying to stem the expansion of local drug traffickers.
Several arrest and drug seizure operations were carried out there to destabilize the drug network.
At the beginning of February, a vast operation carried out by the Toulon judicial police led to the arrest of nine people suspected of belonging to this network.
54 kilograms of cannabis resin and 35,000 euros of cash were seized from the suspects' homes, as well as from a box located in another town.
A dozen weapons were also discovered by law enforcement.
Marseille drug traffickers seek to control the city of Val des Rougières
In total, these latest operations led the police and judicial authorities to seize 90 kilograms of drugs (including 15 kilograms of cocaine) and no less than 200,000 euros in cash.
Seizures which made it possible to
“considerably destabilize”
the traffic installed in Val des Rougières, but which unfortunately caused a real draft.
“Individuals are now trying to take control of traffic.
This fight between drug traffickers creates a situation of insecurity within the neighborhood
,” confirms the Var prefecture in its press release.
These opportunistic drug traffickers, who often come straight from Marseille, no longer hesitate to venture beyond their borders to sow discord among their rival gangs.
Last week, several heavily armed individuals residing in the Phocaean city were apprehended by police officers from the BAC in Hyères when they had apparently just led an intimidation
“expedition”
towards the city of Val des Rougières. .
“The prefect and the public prosecutor have worked closely in recent days, and without waiting for the multiplication of acts of intimidation, to take effective and proportionate hindering measures aimed at dissuading drug traffickers from going to Val des Rougières and thus preventing any takeover of traffic
,” confirms the Var prefecture, which adds that police reinforcements had been deployed in Hyères to
“ensure the application and implementation”
of these measures.
