The decision has provoked questions and comments for a week.
On February 24, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) announced, following a summit in Abuja, the lifting of the heavy economic sanctions which hit Niger, as well as lighter ones against The Mali.
These measures were taken after military coups which, in recent years, ousted three elected presidents of Sahel countries, including, most recently, Mohamed Bazoum in Niger, still detained by the officers in power.
