Elections in Ashdod/Avi Rokah
With the end of counting the double envelopes, the municipality of Herzliya announced this morning (Friday) that Yariv Fisher was elected as the new mayor of Herzliya.
Fisher received 50.34% of the votes, while the incumbent mayor, Moshe Padlon received 49.60% of the votes.
Fisher, a Yesh Atid candidate, previously served as a manager in various companies and served as a city council member.
During the war, according to a publication in Khan 11, he was dismissed from reserve service after posting election videos while in uniform.
He claimed on the other hand in a post he published on Facebook that the decision was made jointly in a conversation with his commanders "to prevent mixing the army with a political campaign", and added that "the fact that the State of Israel forces reservists to choose between serving the state and taking part in an election process is a despicable decision, which harms national security ours, and the ability to maintain a reformed democracy."

With the announcement of his victory, the incoming mayor, Yariv Fisher, said: "Thank you very much to the residents and residents of Herzliya for the trust you placed in me and the excellent team by my side. Moshe Padlon, the outgoing mayor, said: "For the past ten years I have had the privilege of leading Herzliya. I was born in Herzliya and my family lives here. I am not separated from the city, and I am not separated from the wonderful residents who live here. I will continue to contribute, volunteer and work for the city and for the country. I wish Success to the new leadership of the city and to all the elected council members. Your success is the success of Herzliya, which we love so much."
