The accumulation of rain causes the level of rivers in Île-de-France to rise, which overflow their banks in places.

The tributaries of the Seine, which crosses all the departments of the region, sometimes have difficulty flowing there.

The level of the Marne, its main tributary, is therefore also high.

The domino game affects the other rivers that feed it.

So, in Seine-et-Marne, we woke up with our feet in the water this Tuesday.

The Grand Morin River, a tributary of the Marne 118 km long, including 77 km in the Ile-de-France department, has burst its banks.

Several towns crossed by this river were flooded.

The level, depending on the location, rose from 40 cm to 1 m.

Several families had to be relocated.

Le Grand Morin was back in bed this Friday.

Residents, who suffered enormous floods in June 2016, were worriedly watching the weather forecast for this weekend.

A little higher up, in Essonne, the Yerres "evacuates well towards the Seine and despite some usual overflows the decline has started upstream and the flood peak has passed the Gord station at Boussy-Saint-Antoine, the levels are beginning a slow decline,” indicates the 91 prefecture. But the level of the Seine, at the Yerres-Seine confluence, is experiencing a slight increase.

Overflows in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges

Result, at the level of the commune of Villeneuve-Saint-Georges (Val-de-Marne), “overflows are observed and residents of the sector are called to be extremely vigilant”, underlines the prefecture of 94 which carries out “points regularly with the town hall services which have already taken preventive measures.

“At this stage, the situation appears to be under control and no major difficulties have been noted.

The parking lot at the Villeneuve-Saint-Georges swimming pool has been opened to owners and tenants of caravans usually located near Yerres,” she indicates.

As for the Marne, VigiCrues has placed it on yellow alert on the section crossing Val-de-Marne.

The Seine, for its part, remains on green alert in the department, but changes to yellow for its entire crossing of Paris, from Alfortville, where it meets the Marne whose particularly high levels tend to stabilize.

“However, the expected precipitation in the coming days could cause further increases and a deterioration of the situation.

Increased vigilance is therefore being carried out on this section,” warns the prefecture.

Thus, in Bry-sur-Marne, the mayor (LR) Charles Aslangui issued a municipal decree to prohibit traffic under the Bry bridge.

In Champigny-sur-Marne, the town has placed barriers around the banks and recommends vigilance to walkers.

The Oise remains on yellow alert on the Val-d'Oisienne part

Once past Paris, it is the Oise which fills up and struggles to flow into the Seine.

The Oise is therefore still placed on yellow alert on its Val-d'Oisienne part this Friday, according to the VigiCrues bulletin.

“The flood wave coming from upstream of the Oise still causes a slight increase in levels this Friday.

This increase is currently slowing down in the L'Isle-Adam sector and will continue further downstream towards Pontoise until Saturday morning,” indicates the organization, which cites information from the Central Hydrometeorology and Weather Service. support for flood forecasting.

He specifies that the Oise is close to its maximum in the Creil sector (60).

“The section will therefore remain on the rise until this evening.

Levels will remain high throughout the weekend and will depend on expected rainfall,” he adds.

Gérard Seimbille, president of the Entente Aisne Oise joint union, estimates that the level of the river will increase by another 10 to 20 cm during the weekend.

“In the Choux district, in Pontoise, we are at the crest of the bank,” he observes.

He notes that in Jouy-le-Moutier and Auvers-sur-Oise, the pitches have been a little wet since Thursday.

“A priori, we are not experiencing an exceptional event,” he specifies.
