Sean Connery is said to have personally wanted her at his side: Pamela Salem became famous through the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again”.
Now she is deceased.
Miami – The production company “Big Finish” speaks of a “shock”.
Actress Pamela Salem died on February 21st at the age of 80.
Sad news for film fans too: The actress became a star in the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again” (1983).
She played “Miss Moneypenny” alongside Hollywood icon Sean Connery.
Pamela Salem is dead: Sean Connery once campaigned for her as “Miss Moneypenny” in James Bond
It is said that Sean Connery played a major role in Salem getting the role.
He is said to have campaigned for the Indian-born actress.
Because: Salem and Connery, who died in 2020, already knew each other before that.
They first starred together in the comedy “The Great Train Robbery” in 1978.
Her relationship with the Bond actor helped with the filming, as Salem recounts in a later interview: “It wasn't hard to sort of admire Bond from afar because I think Sean is a wonderful man.” In the role of “Miss Moneypenny,” she pined after James Bond, an image of women that is definitely bringing criticism in spy films these days.
Producer Nobody Farewell to Pamela Salem: “We all loved her”
Of course, she wasn't dependent on the charismatic Brit in her acting career and played in several science fiction and fantasy productions.
The most famous: “Blake's 7”, “The Tripods” and “Into the Labyrinth”.
Salem also appeared in guest roles on Doctor Who and Emergency Romm.
“Pamela was lovely and we all loved her,” says producer David Richarlison, who often worked with her: “We had many happy days together and I am very lucky to have had her in my life.”
Salem was born in Bombay (India) in 1944.
She later studied acting in London and Heidelberg.
Her acting career began in the theater and in the 1970s she ventured into television.
She lived with her husband Michael O'Hagan (also an actor) in Miami (Florida), where she also died.
O'Hagan died there in 2017.
