At “Spiegelberger's Diner” in Lohhof you feel like you're in the States.

Burgers, milkshakes and real US food.

The restaurant was “overrun” after a customer review.

Unterschleißheim – A small note on the Internet has triggered a storm.

A young woman was with six friends at the American Diner at Freisinger Straße 5/7.

In a Unterschleißheim Facebook group, she showed photos of bombastic milkshakes and huge burgers and gave her customer review: “It was very tasty.

The restaurant is a bit hidden and isn’t really well known yet.”

This made many people curious.

“We were overrun,” says Izabella Spiegelberger: “It took us completely by surprise.” She and her husband Florian celebrated the opening in a small circle and invited their friends and regular guests.

The seven nice girls stopped by shortly afterwards.

“They were my only table that night.”

A visually and culinary experience

The visit is an experience.

Culinary, visual and especially for football fans, who can buy jerseys in an attached shop.

“We’re bringing Little America to Unterschleissheim,” says Izabella Spiegelberger, turning around with her arms outstretched and laughing from ear to ear.

She loves the American attitude to life: friendliness, openness, a sense of family.

A guest notices this immediately, as warmly and warmly as they receive at Spiegelberger's.

Florian Spiegelberger cooks fresh dishes in his show kitchen.

The rich burgers are big enough to feed a full-sized football player.

There's also Caesar Salad and Curly Fries, which are curly fries.

“You can get our homemade sauces for free,” says the boss.

If that's not hearty enough for you, top it all off with a milkshake that's full of colorful sprinkles that's eye-catching.

Or you can order a cheesecake for dessert.

Burger buns come from the USA

The rolls for the burgers are imported from the USA, as are all drinks, menus, paper cups and whatever else is needed for service.

Only the meat for the burgers comes from a Petershausen butcher.

Anyone who wants to drink an apple juice spritzer is out of luck.

They don't exist.

For this Dr.

Pepper, Fanta, Pepsi and Jarritos in a refrigerated display case.

This is appreciated by customers who feel like they are in the States.

The decoration is also in true American style: from the US flags to neon signs to the napkins.

“I love decorations,” says Izabella.

“It’s crazy and over the top.

But here I can finally let off steam.” Her pride and joy is a shelf full of American items: “The children wander through the whole store,” she says.

There really is a lot to look at.

“Do what we always wanted to do”

For 14 years, Izabella and Florian served Bavarian cuisine in taverns and worked six days a week.

During the Corona period, they bought a food truck and fulfilled their dream, which Florian was initially infected with since he had worked in the USA for two years.

The Spiegelbergers are also big football fans and accompany the Munich Ravens to all games in the food truck.

The team is now ranked in the European League.

The Spiegelbergers soon want to hang four flat screens in the restaurant so that guests can watch games at the same time.

And every 14 days a Foodball podcast is recorded in the restaurant.

“It’s all a lot of fun,” says Izabella Spiegelberger: “We’re doing what we always wanted to do here.”

With “Spiegelberger's Diner”, Unterschleißheim now has an original American restaurant.

But only two or three evenings a week.

If you want to eat here, you have to find out about the current opening times online and make a reservation straight away.

Because the hosts are often on the move.

“We hope for people’s flexibility,” says Izabella.
