Participation in the planned wind turbines in Forstenrieder Park is carried out by cooperatives.

Citizens can participate from 1000 euros.

District

- Interest appears to be great: 380 people dialed in online to the information event about the wind farm in Forstenrieder Park on Thursday, and others followed the evening at public viewing.

Three speakers invited by the Ebersberg-Munich energy agency answered a good 40 questions from listeners.

Wind expert Peter Beermann provided information on the status of the project: Six wind turbines are planned for around 50 million euros, three east and three west of the A95 motorway.

They produce around 60 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, could supply 20,000 households and save around 27,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Pullach and Neuried got the wind project rolling, and their working group was soon joined by Baierbrunn and Schäftlarn.

Four of the six systems are being built by the Forstenrieder Park community wind farm project company, two systems are intended to supply the Grünwald geothermal energy with electricity.

50 million euros in capital is required

The management company, which represented managing director Helmut Mangold, wants to enable citizens of all neighboring communities to share in the profits in accordance with the parish principle.

In addition to the four project communities, this includes residents from parts of Gauting, Starnberg, Forstenried, Fürstenried and Solln.

Around 50 million euros in capital is required.

The conditions under which citizens can contribute financially, what interest they can expect for subordinated loans and the maximum amount of money they are allowed to invest will not become clear until December at the earliest.

The project must first be approved.

We also have to wait for the call for tenders from the Federal Network Agency as well as final negotiations with the manufacturer Enercon and the banks.

Only then should citizen participation begin via the three energy cooperatives BENG, Bürger-Energie Unterhaching and Energie-Genossenschaft Fünfseenland.

The four municipalities and the three community energy cooperatives work together as limited partners in the project company.

The prerequisite is membership in one of the three cooperatives

Many questions from the audience focused on the type of citizen participation.

Unlike the wind farm in Hofoldinger Forst, where citizen participation was organized through crowdfunding via the GLS Bank, in Forstenrieder Park a citizen who wants to participate first becomes a member of one of the three cooperatives by purchasing at least one share in the business at a price of 100 euros each buys.

A member can then subscribe to a subordinated loan, starting at a minimum of 1,000 euros, increasing in increments of 1,000 euros.

A maximum limit has not yet been set.

Citizens have the right to vote

Unlike in Hofoldinger Forest, the citizens involved in Forstenrieder Park have the right to vote.

As a member, you can, for example, decide which dividends will be distributed on the shares.

“The municipalities wanted a different path here,” said Katharina Habersbrunner from BENG, who answered on behalf of all the cooperatives: “This is a project with a pioneering spirit that could potentially become a model for the region.” The term of the subordinated loan should 20 years, although there will also be a model with a shorter term.

It is unclear how high the share of capital should be from citizens and communities and how much will be financed through external loans from banks.

Questions from the listeners also came about the citizen electricity tariff: “The goal is for our members to be able to receive a discounted electricity tariff at some point, but it will still take some time before we implement such energy sharing,” said Habersbrunner.

When asked whether there was room for more wind turbines in the forest and whether Oberhaching or Taufkirchen were already in talks, Mangold explained: “I don't know anything about that.

The contact person for locations in Forstenrieder Park is the Bavarian State Forests.”
