Now a decision has been made.

Mertens” into extra time.

Now the producing broadcaster has made a decision.
New season of “Veterinarian Dr.
Mertens” decided
Since October 2006, actress Elisabeth Lanz has been enthralling as veterinarian Dr.
Susanne Mertens the viewers in front of the TV screens.
What began with a film in 2002 - back then with Christina Plate in the lead role - developed into a long-running hit on German television.
A good four million people recently sat on the couch when the ARD series was on.
And yet there were considerations about discontinuing the format.
After the seventh season it should end in March 2021.
But the good ratings made the decision-makers rethink things and 13 new episodes were filmed.
The final flickered across the screens at the beginning of July 2023.

At that time, Dr.
Susanne Mertens to give up her work as a self-employed veterinarian and return to her old job as a zoo doctor.
But it was uncertain for a long time whether fans would be able to see Lanz in her new, old role.
Now the anxious time is over and viewers can breathe a sigh of relief: There will be a ninth season.

She also revealed further details.
Accordingly, the filming of the 13 new “veterinarian Dr.
Mertens” episodes will start in May 2024 and last until late autumn.
Filming locations will be the Leipzig Zoo and the surrounding area as well as the University of Leipzig.
At the university, Lanz, alias Dr.
Mertens train young veterinarians.
It is not yet known when the sequel will be shown in the first.
Probably then 2025.
