The Freising adventure swimming pool fresch turned five years old on May 1, 2024.
This birthday was celebrated with donuts, wheel of fortune and mascots.
Freising
– The light blue balloons were inflated, the anniversary donuts were ready and the blue mascot Max was waiting for his big appearance.
The indoor pool celebrated freshly, as befits five-year-olds.
On Friday, visitors were allowed to spin the wheel of fortune before going to the checkout.
They could win free drinks, prizes, discounts or even free entry.
“It's crazy what's going on here on a Friday morning,” said a delighted Dominik Schwegler, deputy works manager at Freisinger Stadtwerke, amidst the hustle and bustle.
The fresch counted 375,000 visitors in 2023
“A total of 1.5 million bathing and sauna guests have visited the fresch in the last five years.
In 2023 alone there were 375,000,” Schwegler happily announced to a small group in the in-house restaurant Nineteen Null Zwei Steakhaus.
Even though there have been special challenges such as the pandemic and the energy crisis that have had to be overcome since the launch on March 1, 2019, he can now look back on a success story.
With its diverse offering, the fresch has established itself as a popular leisure destination.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
“Even if we were to rely on an expanded energy concept today, for example with a photovoltaic system and heat pump, we would still be planning an indoor swimming pool today,” says Alexander Frederking, operations manager at fresch, when asked by FT.
But given the amount of energy required, it probably wouldn't work without gas.
Lots of swimming courses and good club cooperation
Jürgen Mieskes, the city's sports officer, announced himself as a regular guest at fresch and was particularly pleased that clubs, schools and water rescue services are also often guests.
Swimming courses in particular are essential.
Andreas Dörner, 3rd chairman of the Freisinger Wasserwacht, said: “We were able to expand our courses, which are important for prevention.
We thank you for allowing us to be here.”
