HERCULANEUM (NAPLES) - The archaeological park of Herculaneum bids farewell to winter with important results and looks towards the spring season: January 2024 ended with a number of visitors that was almost triple the number of visitors in the same month last year, with great satisfaction from the Park staff and the director Francesco Sirano: "The result of the 36,999 visitors last January compared to the 16,533 in January 2023 almost amazed me so much that it would seem possible to say that the low season no longer exists for the Ercolano Park" , Sirano said.
"Of course - he continues - the clement weather of the winter month was an accomplice, but we are certainly reaping the fruits of continuous and passionate work to disseminate the cultural values of the site which we have been carrying out with all the staff since the first day of my assignment as director. We invite everyone to take advantage of the spring months to welcome them with events and extraordinary openings of sites and construction sites for an increasingly circular participation in the visit experience".
Meanwhile, on Sunday 3 March the #domenicalmuseo event returns to Ercolano, a ministerial initiative that allows free access to museums and archaeological sites.
But the Park doubles the days with free entry, repeating itself for Women's Day when all women will be offered free entry.
And on March 8th the appointment with Close up cantieri also returns, the participatory visit behind the scenes of the restoration sites.
The Park's summer opening hours begin on March 15th with the gates opening at 8.30am and closing at 7.30pm (with last entry at 6.00pm).
