Highlights: British-owned Robimmer was carrying more than 41,000 tons of fertilizer when it was hit by an attack by pro-Iranian rebels last month. According to the official Yemeni government, she sank in the southern Red Sea and there is a danger of a serious environmental disaster. A British-owned cargo ship, which was attacked last month by the Houthi rebels, sank in the southern Red Sea - this is what the Yemeni government said today (Saturday).

If the Yemeni government's announcement, recognized by the international community, is true, it would be the first vessel to sink since Iran-backed rebels began their attacks on commercial ships in November.

The Yemeni government, based in the city of Aden, said that the ship "Robimmer" sank during the night, and it warned of an "environmental disaster".

The ship had more than 41,000 tons of fertilizers at the time of the attack, according to the US military.
