While Fashion Week is in full swing until March 5 in Paris, Chantilly lace (Oise) is once again making its way onto the catwalks.
Often seen during numerous fashion shows, the black fabric seems to have never gone out of fashion.
However, the technique is not new.
It was in the 17th century that the manufacture of this black, delicate and flowery fabric developed.
A true work of goldsmith, woven with silk threads, this lace met, upon its creation, with explosive success at the king's court.
The women of the nobility of the time competed for the expensive and sought-after fabric.
And today, the models who walk the catwalks wear the same designs.
From Empress Eugénie's fans to Jimmy Choo's pumps, Chantilly lace has survived the centuries without ever losing its panache.
