The playoffs begin in the ice hockey league.

SC Riessersee is fighting for promotion to the DEL2.

It starts on Sunday (March 3rd): The SCR will play the Hannover Indians in the round of 16.

Now it begins, the fifth season of ice hockey.

In the major league playoffs, everything is on the line.

SC Riessersee finished the main round of the Oberliga Süd in fifth place.

This Sunday the SCR will face the Hannover Indians in the round of 16.

The first game will start at 7 p.m. in Lower Saxony.

Whoever wins three times is in the quarterfinals.

The first home game will take place two days later (Tuesday, March 5th) at 8 p.m. in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

All SC Riessersee away playoff games in the Oberliga will be shown live in the SCR-Stüberl

The third game will take place again in Hanover on Friday, March 8th.

It starts at 8 p.m.

A possible fourth game is on Sunday, March 10th at 6 p.m. in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

If the score is 2-2 afterwards, the playoff will take place on Tuesday, March 12th at 8 p.m. in Hanover.

Like last year, all playoff away games will be broadcast live in the SCR Stüberl this year.

The Stüberl will open one hour before the start of the game on both dates (March 3rd and 8th).

As usual, the kitchen is open and all kinds of food and drinks are offered.

At the end of the preliminary round in the Oberliga Süd, SC Riessersee lost 2:4 against Heilbronn

At the end of the preliminary round, the SCR met Heilbronn last Sunday (February 25th).

SC Riessersee was ahead 2-1 after the first section, after goals from Thomas Schmid and Quirin Bader.

Niklas Jentsch (22nd) and Nikita Tschwanow (26th) turned the game in the Falcons' favor in the second.

Shortly before the end, Riessersee took goalkeeper Andreas Mechel off the ice and finally had to accept the goal from Oula Uski to make the final score 2:4 (59th).

A series of injuries is the big problem for the white and blue

The big problem for the white and blue is that the squad has shrunk dramatically in the last few weeks: Alexander Höller broke his spoke, Uli Maurer had to leave the ice with a broken collarbone, Lubor Dibelka tore his inner ligament and injured his front one cruciate ligament.

While the first two underwent surgery straight away, the top scorer does not have to go under the knife.

But for the trio the season is already over before the decisive phase of the season begins.

Hanover Indians changed their coach over the Christmas season: Todd Warriner took over

The Hanover Indians changed their coach over the Christmas season.

Todd Warriner took over the direction of the gang.

Head coach Björn Naujokat and assistant coach Andrej Strakhov resigned from their positions in mid-December of their own accord.

Warriner played in the DEL in Germany for a total of four years, including two for the Hannover Scorpions and two for the Kölner Haie.

After the 2008/09 season he ended his playing career, in which he had played a total of 474 times in the NHL for Toronto, Tampa, Phoenix, Vancouver and Philadelphia.

In 1994 he won silver with Team Canada at the Olympic Games.

Indians have the best attendance average in the third division

The Indians only secured fourth place in the table on the penultimate matchday of the main round.

In the previous weeks they fluctuated between fifth and sixth place.

Before that, 50-year-old coach Warriner's team alternated victory and defeat eleven times.

With 3,300 spectators per home game, the Indians have the best average of all teams in the third division.

But the myth of the fortress at the Powder Tower is crumbling.

The home strength of previous years is no longer as strong as it used to be.

Defense is the showpiece of Lower Saxony

The defense is the showpiece of Lower Saxony.

113 goals conceded is the second best figure after the Scorpions.

The experienced Brett Jaeger (last season with the Scorpions, who eliminated the SCR in the quarter-finals) and the young David Miserotti-Böttcher took turns in goal.

In the storm, Canadian Dante Salituro and Matias Varttiinen from Finland provide penetration.

Captain Branislav Pohanka, Tyler Gron, who played in the DEL2 for years, also with Bad Tölz, and Igor Bacek, who used to play in Landsberg, bring a lot of experience with them.

Tom Horschel, a former SC Riessersee player (2020/21 season), is also in the squad.

Made it to the semi-finals in 2022

Last year the Indians failed in the quarterfinals against Weiden with 0:3 after games, in 2022 they made it to the semifinals and were only eliminated in the fifth and decisive game against Memmingen.
