Less than 24 hours after President Javier Milei's speech in Congress, where he announced a package of "anti-caste" laws that eliminates privileged retirements, liberal deputy
José Luis Espert
stated that "without a doubt" the retirement age must be increased, which currently stands at 60 years for women and 65 for men.
"Without a doubt,
it must be increased, it is a matter of common sense.
Why must it be increased? Because if life expectancy increases, it means that one lives longer and longer, then how do we make a pension system sustainable where people lives more and more," Espert stressed.
During an interview with radio
Miter
, the liberal deputy argued:
"He has to contribute a little more and therefore retires later.
We have broken the pension system because of the insane Néstor and Cristina Kirchner who retired 4 million people without all contributions".
"There are dozens of funds where everyone retires when they want. We have to have
a single regime for everyone
," said Espert, after questioning that some activities have special pension systems in which a minimum early retirement age is stipulated, It requires fewer years of contributions (30 years of the general regime) and the salaries are higher.
When making a staunch defense of his position, the official deputy attacked: "Freedom, freedom. OK, everything is fine, but then let's not complain if retirees earn pittance. Here the priority is that retirees do not earn pittance."
"The blender (through which the retirements went through) is the fault of those who brought down the Bases Law, because what the law also did was change the retirement formula and begin to adjust the retirements for inflation," said the libertarian.
Along these lines, the national deputy for Avanza Libertad assured that
"retirees have been completely liquefied"
, since "the retirement formula continues to be adjusted by the old formula that Kirchnerism put in place, which has a phenomenal delay in adjusting by CPI (Consumer Price Index), which is the fault of those who did not vote for the Base Law and not the fault of the Milei government."
