In 2004, a note by the economic editor about the former president's role in the National Insurance Superintendency and the liquidation of INDER was censored on Page 12. His then colleague Horacio Verbitsky came out to defend the newspaper K and criticize Nudler. In Clarín and social networks, the investigation of the deceased journalist was remembered this week.

In

Clarín

and on social networks it was recalled this week that the late journalist Julio Nudler

was the first in 2004 to uncover the insurance businesses in which former president Alberto Fernández was involved

for his management at the head of the National Insurance Superintendency during the presidency of Carlos Menem.

What were business like with insurance and reinsurance for the State?

Former Minister of Economy Domingo Cavallo

appointed the Salta economist Roberto Guzmán to head the National Reinsurance Institute (INDER) to arrange for his liquidation because he was one of the “nests of corruption

. ”

Guzmán was liquidator of INDER between 1994 and 1996 and had

a series of frictions with Alberto F. who was in charge of the Superintendence.

Cavallo then hired former prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo and his partner Hugo Wortman Jofre to investigate corruption at INDER.

They filed a criminal complaint,

but years later it ended up closed in the Comodoro Py courts amid complaints of arrangements with judges

on the part of officials and businessmen investigated in a million-dollar scam against INDER.

Even though Menem was fired from the Economy Department, Cavallo continued to support Guzmán and even wrote a prologue to his book titled

“Assured Looting, Corruption in the Insurance Business and the Salta Case,”

published in 1997. The book was provided as evidence in the criminal case. .

In that introduction, the former minister affirms that INDER was “

one of the organizations most invaded by corruption

and the negotiations of hyper-regulated Argentina.”

He assured that after two years of operation of an INDER Liquidation Commission - before Guzmán's administration - "the apparent debt of the organization had quadrupled."

Cavallo said that Guzmán "perplexedly expressed to us (in 1996) his astonishment at the stagnation of judicial cases full of damning evidence, enough to keep

a good number of highly renowned officials, lobbyists and public personnel

behind bars ."

Guzman reveals in the book in detail how the “trial industry” against INDER worked and gives as an example a car crash that occurred in La Rioja in 1983, where the victim was paid 14 thousand dollars and the lawyers and experts - linked to a Menemist official - who intervened ended up collecting $1,400,000.

In 2004, the late journalist Julio Nudler tried to publish

in Página 12 the article titled “Puppets and Puppeteers”

for the appointment of Claudio Moroni in the General Sindicatura de la Nación (Sigen), the right hand of Alberto Fernández.

The newspaper K raised the story because it described an alleged “business network” between Moroni and Alberto Fernández when both were numbers one and two in the National Insurance Superintendency.

On the other hand, the censorship of Nudler was the key reason why the Periodistas group was dissolved that same year.

According to Nudler – who denounced censorship of the pro-government newspaper and was cynically criticized by journalist K Horacio Verbitsky –, Alberto and Moreno pressured Guzmán between 1994 and 1996 to “recognize a debt with the insurance sector of 1.2 billion dollars, when later

Guzmán himself showed that it was barely 500 million.”

Fernández denied the accusation.

On November 16, 2004, Nudler responded to journalist K and wrote “The extensive note by political commissioner Horacio Verbitsky in the Sunday edition of Página/12 confirms, unfortunately,

his moral degradation,

perhaps already without possible redemption.

“Too many years of rinsing dirty laundry and posting sewage!”

“Although he could have been a good journalist, even a brilliant one, he opted for permanent political manipulation, in the worst sense.

He has long been recklessly deceiving his readers if he believes that he will benefit someone for whom he advocates, never revealing his true motives.

Depending on I don't know what political operations, he now assumes

the role of defender of two sinister characters, in this case Alberto Fernández (Chief of Staff) and Claudio Moroni (General Trustee of the Nation), henchmen of each other

, "he added. .

“That is also why my censored status has experienced an increase: now

I am an outlaw

.

Not only was a note of mine thrown away: then my column and any other space from which I could once again denounce the corruption of the Kirchner government was taken away.

HV doesn't say anything about this either, but he does choose to publish my old column, which everyone already knows very well thanks to the Internet, becoming a kind of second-hand Verbitsky/12. Thank you, comrade Horacio, for your unwavering commitment with freedom of expression!

How can politicking lead to so much mental alienation? ”He added ironically.

He then highlighted “meanwhile, HV refers to his failed meetings with the management and journalistic leadership of Página/12 in irreproducible terms, concluding that they are people with whom any dialogue is impossible.

But so that there are no doubts about his baseness, HV affirms that my complaint

"was a moving cry of despair and farewell", thus extending me the death certificate due to the cancer I suffer from

.

"However, and at his suggestion, I had just taken an appointment with his wife, Dr. Müller, a homeopath, who he recommended to me - in the same visit I made to him on Thursday at his request - to improve my general condition and moderate any side effects of chemotherapy.

As a precaution, and without implying any judgment regarding the suitability and professional conduct of the doctor, I have just canceled the appointment.

I had the fantasy that

it was Horacio Verbitsky who was prescribing drugs to me, and I was startled,

” concluded Nudler, who was editor of Clarín, Somos magazine and Página 12, as well as a tango expert.

Nudler died the following year.
