The traveling campaign "Città2030: cities and the challenge of change" arrives in Piedmont, the initiative organized by Legambiente as part of the CleanCities Campaign to promote sustainable and zero-emission mobility.
On the occasion of the Piedmontese stage, Legambiente Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta organized two meetings, in Turin and Asti, dedicated to air quality in Piedmont and new mobility.
As reported in the Legambiente Mal'Aria di Città2024 dossier, to achieve the objectives of climate neutrality the Piedmontese capital must reduce the presence of PM 10 media in the atmosphere by 34%, and by 42% for PM 2.5 and nitrogen dioxide.
The motorisation rate is very high with 61 cars per 100 inhabitants.
Good data on the demand for mobility addressed to local public transport, which has grown slightly in the last year.
Turin, according to the data provided yesterday on the city, confirms its cycling vocation with a 250 kilometer cycle route, close to the imagined objective, and the segments of roads with speeds limited to 20 or 30 kilometers per hour amount to 246 kilometres.
The ZTL needs to be increased both in terms of physical extension, currently less than 6 square kilometres, and in terms of hourly extension (today it is limited to three hours a day (7.30-10.30) exclusively on weekdays.
"Today we want to reiterate how urgent and necessary it is to speed up the time to achieve the objectives of improving air quality - declares Alice De Marco, president of Legambiente Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta -. We only have six years to drastically reduce emission levels, especially in relation to the pollutants that create the greatest health problems".
Today in Asti Legambiente presented the Pendolaria2024 data and addressed the issue of suspended railways and extra-urban mobility. In Italy, according to what has been said, Piedmont is among the Regions that contributes least economically to its railway system, with in 2022 they are less than 0.1% of resources.
