After the fatal shots, the public prosecutor's office provided further information.

The Bundeswehr soldier is said to be 32 years old.

As the district newspaper reported, the suspect was a soldier, but not at the Von Düring barracks in Rotenburg.

What the soldier intended to do with the weapons that were in the car in front of the barracks remains unclear.

At around 3:30 a.m. shots were fired in the Westervesede district of Scheeßel on Friday (March 1st), and ten minutes later in Bothel, 15 kilometers away.

The police speak of a “capital crime”.
