The Gilching Cecina Association looks back on an eventful year.

Partnership sculpture remains an issue.

Gilching

– Mutual visits, enriching encounters and a breath of fresh air from the fire department: The members of the Cecina-Gilching partnership association recently looked back on eventful months at their annual meeting.

However, developments in partnership sculpture offer little cause for celebration.

A solution has still not been found.

The Festa Italiana in Gilching and the Targa in Cecina were among the highlights in 2023.

In addition, some club members took part in a bus trip to the Palio, the hay wagon race, in the city of Padua, as board member Jakob Promoli reported.

This trip was organized by the German-Italian Society (DIG) in Germering.

“We have been taking part in mutual events for a long time.

The Amici d'Italia from Eichenau are also represented,” explained secretary Brigitte Haidt in her report on the meeting.

Eichenau has a twin town relationship with Budrio, a small town near Bologna.

But something very special was the visit of a group of firefighters from Cecina to their comrades in Geisenbrunn and Gilching.

“Our club initiated and helped organize this encounter.

The 'capo' of the seven-person group, Paolo Nobili, was delighted with the hospitality with which the group was received here." The two local fire departments had prepared an interesting program.

The volunteers traveled by steamer on the Ammersee and also in Andechs Monastery.

“The relationship between the fire departments is to be deepened this year with a visit by youth firefighters to Cecina,” announced Haidt.

Sculpture has been dismantled since 2021 - no construction this year

Partnership speaker Karin Keil was also a guest that evening.

She reported on the current status of partnership sculpture on the market square.

The sculpture has been dismantled since 2021.

For financial reasons, the work of art is not expected to be restored this year either.

“Mayor Manfred Walter will meet with the artist Antonio Fiengo in Cecina in March of this year to discuss how to proceed,” announced Keil.

She emphasized that the entire local council supports the early restoration of the partnership symbol.

When looking ahead, Promoli pointed out participation in the TSV quiz and the spring market.

Joint hikes are also planned.

A bus trip to Tuscany and Umbria will take place from May 16th to 20th.

“A few places are still available,” says Haidt.

At the end of the meeting, Toni Selmeier showed a photo presentation about the events of the past year.

The members of the Cecina Association meet every first and third Thursday of the month for an informal get-together.

Anyone interested is welcome.
