The Chamber of Crafts wants to build its new education center in an open field next to the vocational school on Narbonner Ring in Weilheim.

The parking issue becomes a sticking point for the Chamber of Crafts' major new building plans on Narbonner Ring.
The city council now expressed hope for a joint solution with the neighboring vocational school.

- For the new vocational training center that the Chamber of Crafts wants to build in an open field between the vocational school and the football field on Narbonner Ring, the city must first change its land use plan.
The first authorities and public participation has now taken place;
A space-saving construction method was recommended several times (we reported).
The city council debate on Thursday evening (February 29th) focused primarily on the question of how the necessary car parking spaces will be created.
Is a shared parking deck with the vocational school realistic?
ÖDP representative Gerd Ratter called for the existing vocational school parking lot to be built over with a parking deck for this purpose.
Only under this condition will the ÖDP agree to the project in the further proceedings.
The district, owner of the vocational school, “will not build an additional parking deck,” answered Mayor Markus Loth (BfW), “you have to be realistic about that.”
But Stefan Zirngibl (CSU), who, like Loth, is a member of the district council, emphasized that the district office was “not opposed to a shared parking deck”.
The Chamber of Crafts would have to “reach out to the district and of course bear the costs”.

The CSU man did not want to ignore the criticism from Alfred Honisch (Greens) that the Chamber of Crafts had “shown no reaction” regarding the “painful parking issue” so far.
The client is aware “that this is a sensitive issue,” said Zirngibl, who, as a district master craftsman, was involved in the chamber’s new building considerations until 2021.
The questions would be clarified in an ideas competition and then in the development plan process: “We’ll just wait and see.” Basically, however, the city should be grateful for the Chamber of Crafts’ planned investment: “This is a bank for Weilheim.” The city, like that Mayor Loth added that he had “made a huge effort to achieve this”.
“Particularly important” in times of skilled labor shortages
BfW spokeswoman Brigitte Holeczek emphasized that, especially in times of a shortage of skilled workers, everything must be done to provide training and further education for craftsmen.
That's why her group is "happy if the vocational training center stays in Weilheim" and they also think the location next to the vocational school is right.
As far as the parking spaces are concerned, we will of course “look closely” in the following development plan process.
Rüdiger Imgart (AfD) also emphasized the latter and warned against “talking the project to pieces” now.

Anders Ullrich Klinkicht: “The cardinal error was the completely wrong location of the vocational school,” said the representative of “WM Miteinander”.
“You shouldn’t add another error to this.”
The Greens also reject the planned new building.
So far, no one has adequately explained “why you absolutely need new space and why the thing has to be so big,” says Karl-Heinz Grehl.
The Chamber of Crafts “has done well so far” with its important educational work.
The city council approved the city planning department's considerations of the submissions in the land use plan process against the votes of the Greens and Klinkicht.
The process therefore continues without any major changes.
