Youth council presents draft to committee - city council decides to change the development plan

Geretsried – The first step for the new pump track in Geretsried has been taken.

At the most recent city council meeting last Tuesday, the committee unanimously decided to change the development plan for the site on the B11.

Youth councils present final draft

A pump track is a circuit that has waves, curves and jumps.

Two representatives of the youth council, Jonathan Kübler and Victor Jaunich, presented the final design for the route and explained what has happened so far.

“We saw in a survey that there is a desire for a pump track.” As reported, the dirt park between the FC sports field and the makeshift dormitory has been closed since August 2020 due to safety deficiencies.

The youth council then wrote an application and the city council decided to build the pump track in February 2023.

After a feasibility study and a user survey, the Dirtways company created two designs for the pump track.

City councilors praise the work of the youth council

At a workshop in November 2023, Kübler and Jaunich presented the designs to the young people present.

Both variants were also presented to the councils again.

“The first draft has no major jumps and is more suitable for beginners,” explained the young men.

The second, on the other hand, is a large circuit, the routes for beginners and advanced riders are better separated from each other.

A trick jump with a landing option made of bark mulch was also taken into account.

This second design turned out to be a clear favorite among the young people.

“The curves were well received, as were the joint start and the two separate rings,” explained the two youth councilors.

Thank you to the youth council for supporting the project so enthusiastically.

SPD city councilor Hans Hopfner

The Geretsried city councilors were enthusiastic about the project and praised the youth council through the ranks.

“Thank you to the youth council for supporting the project so enthusiastically,” said Hans Hopfner (SPD).

“It's good that we're doing something here.

Because the old dirt park has had a dreary existence in recent years.” He hopes that the new pump track will be just as well received as the one in Bad Tölz.

“When I drive past, I always see that it is very well attended.” Youth representative Felix Leipold (Free Voters) emphasized that this is the largest and most expensive project that the youth council has ever undertaken in its career.

“For many people it was also an ambition to stand for election.” 200,000 euros have been earmarked for the construction of the pump track.

If possible, money from the LEADER funding program should also be used.

The route will also be accessible for wheelchair users

Peter Curtius (Greens) also praised the “great work”.

He saw the pump track as a “huge opportunity” for Geretsried.

“Keep going like this,” he told the young people.

Heidi Dodenhöft (Free Voters) found it particularly successful that the pump track should also be suitable for younger people.

As Kübler and Jaunich explained, even small children can ride the route, for example on a balance bike.

Dr.

Elmar Immertreu (Geretsrieder Liste) remarked: “It would be nice if the quality of stay there increased even further,” and thought of something “considered.”

He would also like it if the young people “view the pump track as their own and make sure that it stays nice there in the future.” Andreas Rottmüller (CSU) wanted to know whether the pump track can also be accessed with a wheelchair.

The youth councilors agreed.

Construction law during the year

Afterwards, Susanne Ermer from the construction department explained that partial sealing was necessary to convert the dirt park into a pump track.

This wasn't necessary for the dirt park.

Consequently, compensation areas would have to be created for these nature conservation interventions.

Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) emphasized that changing the development plan was the first step.

The building permit could then be created over the course of the year.
