, three days after the defenestration of three elected officials frightened by firecrackers thrown during a municipal council in Challes (Sarthe), announced Saturday March 2 Le Mans floor.
Thursday evening, explosions of firecrackers rang out in the room where a municipal council was ending at the town hall of Challes, located southeast of Le Mans, according to information reported by the regional daily Le Maine Libre and confirmed on Saturday at AFP by the Le Mans public prosecutor's office.

and the smoke caused by these firecrackers, three elected officials jumped out of the window, according to the same sources.
Two elected officials escaped unscathed, according to these sources, but the third, a woman in her forties, suffered significant fractures and was hospitalized.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, there were 2,387 attacks against elected officials between January and November 2023, a figure up compared to the whole of 2022 (2,265).
A Senate bill adopted at the beginning of October aligns the criminal sanctions provided for in the event of an attack against an elected official with those already imposed when targeting a person holding public authority.
It was adopted on February 7 by the National Assembly at first reading.
