The bridge collapsed in August 2023 because the foundation underneath collapsed.
But who is to blame?

It has now been over half a year since the bridge to the Olching Bird Park came down.
Olching - At the most recent meeting of the urban development committee, the CSU wanted to know why it was taking so long to restore it.
Group leader Tomas Bauer had sent a list of questions to the administration in advance.
Mayor Andreas Magg (SPD), who never tires of emphasizing that it was not the newly built bridge that collapsed, but what it stood on, responded.
It happened between August 17th and 18th, and the bridge has been impassable since then.
Constant contact
And since then we have been in constant contact with the district office and the water management office in Munich.
The big and, according to Magg, exciting question is: Who is actually responsible?
Is this part of the Amper a first or third order body of water?
And in the end, of course: Who has to pay for the damage?
According to Magg, this may require a legal dispute.
However, that doesn't mean that nothing has happened since then.
A path was created for the bird park (near SC Olching), which is still being gravelled.
A ticket booth will be set up here and you can also use it to transport the feed.
As a temporary solution, this is also fine in consultation with the bird park.
And also important: The season will start again soon, including tours with school classes.
Bridge is finished
As for the new bridge construction.
According to construction department manager Markus Brunnhuber, the bridge itself is finished (“We are ready, the bridge is ready”).
Now it has to be assembled.
Planning is already underway to see how the area can be designed differently.
So that the crash that collapsed may no longer be needed, but the bird park can still use the fresh water.
The weir over which the bridge led used to dam a pond.
This was used to feed the waterfowl facilities.
First of all, the city has to open its own purse strings for these plans.
However, according to Mayor Magg, a significant proportion of the costs are subsidized.
