Looking into the future: This is what the new senior center on Main Street will look like.

Things continue to make progress at the senior center in Neubiberg.
The local council has clarified further details for the new building.
Construction is scheduled to start in March 2025.
Neubiberg – The older people of Neubiberg had to wait a long time for promises, planning progress and real outlines for an urgently needed new senior center.
Since the final project approval and initiation of preliminary design planning last year, the prestige project for the new center at the old location at Hauptstrasse 12 has made very good progress (we reported).
This can also be seen in the latest results in the local council.
Phase 3, the concrete design planning for the three-story project, currently valued at around 6.6 million euros, is scheduled to begin in March.
Which is why various contentious planning points had to be dealt with quickly in the council.
Controversial proposal
The extremely controversial suggestion by architect Lukas Mahlknecht to make the windows tapered and thus create “something special” was met with clear approval.
However, a space-intensive carport solution on the property is rejected.
Instead, parking spaces in the area should be rented for the center's patient bus.
An additional window in the course rooms on the upper floor was also deleted from further planning.
The construction experts are still checking on behalf of the council whether sun protection awnings are needed on the north side of the building.
A small shower room is also to be created in the basement, which means that the hallway and storage areas there will have to be reduced somewhat.
An air-water heat pump will supply the building with energy.
A dormer window is to be created on the east and west sides of the new property to provide the necessary second escape route.
Moving in the middle of the year
For the landscape planning, the “stadtplus planning office” was awarded the contract as the most economical bidder for the municipality with a projected total fee of 62,000 euros.
The new building should be climate-friendly and of high energy quality.
The councilors in Neubiberg agree on this.
The choice of the appropriate funding level was discussed quite extensively.
In the end, the choice was unanimously for funding level one with a predicted saving of 42,300 euros.
It was already decided at the end of last year that the senior center would temporarily move to the DB store, which was being renovated, at the nearby train station.
The community has rented this for its older citizens for the implementation period.
The move is expected to be completed around the middle of the year.
The old building is scheduled to be demolished towards the end of 2024 and construction of the new building is expected to begin in March of next year.
The ladies and gentlemen of the project controller of Bayern Grund GmbH around managing director Franz Schonlau also introduced themselves.
“We are your temporary building authority and are available to answer any questions,” they promised.
