The Tutzinger Montessori kindergarten almost had to close.

This was averted – thanks to the commitment of the long-time manager and because a successor was found.

Now the kindergarten is looking forward to new children, and Angelika Hier can retire.

Tutzing

– Next year the Tutzing Montessori kindergarten will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The celebration will certainly be even happier because in the 48th year of the kindergarten, its closure was imminent - but has now been averted.

A new management has been found, so the facility can accept new children again.

There are numerous free places.

Angelika Hier, who has been working at the facility since 1986 and its manager since 1987, wanted to retire a year ago.

Only: There was no replacement for her yet.

The provider, Tabaluga Children's and Youth Welfare, wrung its hands and searched for a successor - and was only successful late in life.

Angelika Hier continued to look after the kindergarten until Daniela Weitzel, a competent Montessori specialist, came to Tutzing.

“I am very grateful to Ms. Hier for that,” emphasizes Wolfgang Brandstetter, who is responsible for the Montessori kindergarten at Tabaluga.

“I've been here for 38 years, it was natural for me to continue,” says the educator.

She now looks after children whose parents she already had in her kindergarten.

The kindergarten represents part of her life's work. Angelika Hier retired on March 1st.

Her successor Daniela Weitzel has been in office since the beginning of December.

She was happy to be able to benefit from Hier's expertise for a while and is very happy about her new job: "I was thrilled by this kindergarten."

Carrier happy: “We would have had no other choice”

Tabaluga Child and Youth Welfare, in turn, is happy that the closure was averted.

“We would have had no other choice,” says Brandstetter.

“We were really afraid that we would have to close.” He asked the local council three times whether the community would cover the deficit.

“We have a commitment for this year,” he says.

This was important because fewer children means less government support for daycare.

This is also why it is necessary to fill all places again by September, said Brandstetter.

The Montessori kindergarten is comparatively manageable.

There are two groups with only 15 children each.

There are five integration places available per group.

Six kindergarten teachers look after the children.

The fact that there are currently so many free places could also be due to the Tutzinger rumor mill, which reported that the places were reserved.

“That is not the case,” emphasizes Brandstetter.

“We welcome inquiries.”
