Vision and reality collide in the “Moun10 Bakers” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Benjamin Hasse has now sold his shares.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – There are few places in Garmisch-Partenkirchen where you can observe such colorful hustle and bustle.

In the “Moun10 Bakers” at the train station, ice hockey professionals and local football players fortify themselves with a healthy breakfast, as do influencers who post their brunch on social media.

Students can be found there eagerly waiting for their certificates.

Even well-known faces from social networks like Stefano Zarella drink a cappuccino in this café.

The shock for lovers of this location with its special flair is all the greater that Benjamin Hasse (35 years old), the previous owner of the popular café, gave up his shares a few weeks ago.

The businessman justifies his departure with the precarious economic situation.

As one of three shareholders, Hasse has held the most shares since “Moun10 Bakers” went into operation in 2021.

But the financial challenges almost overwhelmed him.

“A fight for survival – month after month.

“The costs are exploding and there is simply no more room for fair prices,” says Hasse, explaining the situation.

The cost of food, such as milk, is reaching unimaginable levels.

A cappuccino costs just 4.50 euros.

According to Hasse, electricity prices, which have doubled within three years, and personnel costs in the five-figure range make running a café at moderate conditions simply impossible, especially since VAT has also been increased.

Guests who cannot understand the challenges and discuss prices also exacerbate the already difficult situation.

Despite these enormous obstacles, the former “Moun10 Bakers” operator was also socially active.

For example, he offered free breakfast for the “Lichtblick Senior Citizens’ Aid” pensioners’ community.

Because of Hasse's withdrawal, SC Riessersee now also has to look for a new caterer for its VIP lounge.

Due to his good contacts with the SCR, the cooperation was by no means just of a business nature; for the café operator it was a matter of the heart.

But Hasse is now drawing a line: “It was my dream to run a café that not only offers high-quality products from the region, but is also there for the community,” he says.

“But the current conditions simply make this impossible.

The prices are also no longer morally justifiable for me.”

A sad farewell to a socially committed entrepreneur who tastes the bitter taste of economic reality.

But what changes are coming to this once popular meeting place?

Many rumors are circulating locally.

According to reports, the “Moun10 Bakers” will no longer exist by the middle of next month.

FH-Holding GmbH, represented by Franz Hummel, is the landlord of the café operator and does not wish to comment on this topic.

Sezai Alpaslan, one of the shareholders, however, says that it is not yet clear what will happen next.

“There is always a lot of talk in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we will know more in about ten days.” Meanwhile, a new rumor is already circulating.

Apparently a traditional inn will soon be opening at the “Moun10 Bakers”.
