March 1st was the beginning of spring - but will the next few days in Bavaria be correspondingly spring-like?

The trend provides a clear direction.

Munich – Winter too warm, February too warm – temperature records in Germany and Bavaria are falling.

Now the next month is here, and with it came a change of season.

Meteorological spring arrived in the Free State on Friday, March 1st.

Will it bring the next records with it or will the temperatures return to normal?

The beginning of spring in Bavaria – initially no noticeable weather phenomena

The most important thing first: The first days of March do not bring any significant weather phenomena, which the German Weather Service (DWD) warns about.

The current warning situation report only contains a few sentences (as of Friday, March 1st, 4:30 p.m.), and at most it only talks about some fog and light frost, which is announced.

The “Weekly Weather Dangers Forecast” also reads very relaxed.

“Föhn in the Alps, otherwise calm weather,” it says, and: “Probably no significant warning events on Monday and Tuesday.”

It could only be a bit stormy at the weekend - but only in the higher altitudes of the Alps.

It is therefore much more interesting to look at the somewhat longer-term trend and the temperatures that the first half of March brings with it.

Temperatures in March: Is Bavaria feeling the start of spring?

Although there is still some time until the beginning of spring (March 20th), the temperatures thankfully appear to be based on the meteorological calendar.

The DWD meteorologists are predicting at least mild weather for the next ten days - which will probably even increase slightly.

Daytime temperatures are unlikely to fall well below ten degrees until March 9th.

There will even be a short temperature high next Sunday, March 3rd: After it was already around twelve degrees warm on Saturday, March 2nd, it will largely be at least 15 degrees in Bavaria on Sunday.

In the following days the temperatures drop slightly before it gets warmer further towards the middle of the month - at least that's what the current trend suggests.

When it comes to precipitation, the picture is dry - meteorologists are not expecting much rain in the next ten days.

It will only get a little wet tonight from Friday to Saturday and between Tuesday (March 5th) and Thursday (March 7th) - but the rainfall totals are very low.
