Seven years later, he asked to be tried before a criminal court.
“I want to come out of there permanently cleared
,” assures anesthetist Frédéric Péchier.
The practitioner is accused of having poisoned, between 2008 and 2017, around thirty patients, 12 of whom died, at the Saint-Vincent clinic in Besançon (Doubs).
"Everything is still possible. Questions remain to be asked. Certain elements must be studied. I have always asked my lawyers for a trial, to show that I am not the person described in this instruction
,” explained, at the microphone of RTL, the respondent, who relentlessly denied the fact of having polluted anesthetic bags to poison patients.
“I have never done that
,” he refutes.
While the investigators' suspicions focused on a possible conflict between Frédéric Péchier and his colleagues, the person concerned also defended himself, this Tuesday morning, from any deleterious relationship within the clinic.
Instead, he pointed out a disagreement between two other anesthetists.
“The atmosphere was not favorable in this department.
But I’ve never had a fight with anyone.”
Anonymous letter
Among the elements which overwhelm the practitioner, the investigators noted that he, at the time of the events, was still near the scene when one of the victims was anesthetized.
Here again, Frédéric Péchier denied the facts.
“I wasn’t there, nearby, all the time
,” he explained.
“Since 2012, I have been in charge of planning and coordinating anesthesia within the clinic
,” he added, to justify his changing presence within the establishment.
“No one says they saw me handling (anesthesia)
bags
or having a strange attitude,”
also notes the one who now clings to an anonymous missive placed in the file in 2021, and which could exonerate the practitioner .
In it, its author recounts how he overheard, at the material time, a conversation within the clinic between a man and a woman plotting against Frédéric Péchier.
“We will soon be rid of this bastard
,” one of the two allegedly whispered to his friend.
