Every year families, businesses and public administrations face a total expense for electricity supplies amounting on average to around 90 billion euros.
An expense which, regardless of the trend in energy prices, could be reduced by 9 billion euros per year by providing correct information to consumers, ensuring greater transparency and eliminating aggressive and incorrect practices in the sale of supply contracts to the public.
The data comes from the association of Utility Managers Assium and Consumerismo NoProfit.
"It is important not to leave this profession free to anyone, but to establish a certification obligation and establish a national register of Utility Managers. The annual expenditure could thus be reduced by around 9 billion a year", states President of Assium, Federico Bevilacqua.
The contract proposals made to the public are based on three elements common to all: fixed monthly costs;
fixed or variable price;
spread on variable.
The remaining 50% of the bill remains the same for everyone.
And this is where - according to the two associations - it is necessary to look for the offer with lower monthly costs.
"The market price (Pun, single national price) is influenced by some variables that can be easily verified independently or with the help of a Utility Manager - explains Davide Cornaggia of Assium -. We advise all consumers to check whether the contracts are in line with the prices current, now firmly below 0.10 euros per kilowatt hour. We remind you that it is possible to cancel your contract at any time and that, if they have a fixed price, any penalties do not apply to contracts signed before 1 January 2024".
"Non-Profit Consumerism supports the "battle" of the Assium specialists who propose the identification of a figure who is technically delegated to take care of the utilities of families, businesses and also municipalities which very often leave citizens out in the cold precisely because they are incapable of managing the utilities", concludes the president of Consumerismo, Luigi Gabriele.
