The 33-year-old driver was traveling near Schweitenkirchen in the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district on Saturday evening.
He left the road in a left-hand bend and drove about 100 meters over the shoulder.
The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its roof.
The police officers on scene noticed an odor of alcohol from the driver.
A test carried out revealed an alcohol content of over 1.8 per mille in the driver's blood.
The 33-year-old is now being investigated for, among other things, negligent bodily harm.
