Hours before Javier Milei visited the
Cardenal Copello
de Devoto School, where he studied, a group of students from that institution became the protagonist of a controversy at the
UPD ("Last First Day").
In videos that went viral on social networks, the group of students is seen shouting and hitting the bass drum in the streets, which caused anger among the neighbors.
In addition, the teenagers were recorded attacking the front of another school in the neighborhood.
The incidents were part of the celebrations of the fifth-year students of Copello, a tradition that has been celebrated for some years and that begins the school year with which they close secondary school.
It is also the establishment that - according to a statement released last week - the President will visit this Wednesday.
The Government confirmed this Tuesday to
Clarín
the presence of the president at the school event.
In one of the records that circulated on the networks, several students from the 2024 class of the Cardenal Copello school can be seen marching with drums in front of the facade of the
Misericordia de Devoto School
, 3,700 Asunción Street.
Some hang from their window bars.
One of the students breaks away from the rest and
kicks the door with a flying kick
.
Then the camera zooms in and you see a break in the gate, which was left sunken and with a crack.
Meanwhile, the teenagers continue chanting against Misericordia ("Those from Mise are all whores") and in favor of Copello.
The
same group of students was responsible for spreading the video
on their social networks.
They did it through an Instagram account identified with the name of the school and a "XXIV" in Roman numerals, for the class of graduates (2024).
So that there were no doubts, they confronted the Misericordia students, whom they tagged in the publication.
According to police sources, the authorities learned of the episode in front of the Misericordia through a woman's call to 911. The Western Fiscal Unit intervened in the case, which carried out actions to investigate damages.
This was not the only incident involving the teenagers.
The neighbor who advanced with a stick against the Copello students
In other images, they are seen - with the same clothes and the inscriptions on their backs - singing and shouting on the corner of New York and Concordia, 50 meters from where the school they attend is located.
Suddenly, a neighbor approaches the group with an almost 2-meter wooden stick in his hand, determined to attack the teenagers.
Another passerby stops him, although he is unable to prevent the boys from going up in smoke.
The teenage girls run to get away from the man.
"What's wrong with him? He's going to kill us, idiot!"
, is heard behind the camera.
Some of the boys face the neighbor, others put cold cloths.
Another local took an earlier image, when night had not yet turned into day.
They are on the same corner - New York and Concordia - to the rhythm of the drums and whistles and they throw projectiles just when a bus on line 108 passes by.
"Everything is very nice with your celebration but the trash cans and traffic lights have nothing to do with it," wrote a user on the Twitter/X network.
Cardinal Copello's children from Villa Devoto are cute.
Everything is very nice with their celebration but the trash cans and traffic lights have nothing to do with it 🤦♀️.

The attack comes at a very particular moment for Copello, since it
is the school that Javier Milei attended in his youth
and where this Wednesday he will formally inaugurate the start of middle school classes.
He will be accompanied by his sister and Secretary General of the presidency, Karina Milei.
"Only fourth and fifth year students will participate," reads the statement signed by the rector and general director of Copello.
