The new community center is full of “highlights”, “eye-catchers” and “feel-good rooms”: Mayor Michael Grasl's joy about the upcoming move-in is clearly noticeable.

On Monday afternoon he gave members of the press a tour of the new building.

Münsing

- It wasn't an easy path to a community center with a town hall, but now it's almost done.

On April 2nd, the entire municipal administration will have moved from the old to the new domicile.

It's just a few meters further down Weipertshausener Straße, so everyone will have to carry their own files and personal belongings.

No official visits will be possible on March 27th and 28th due to the move.

New community center in Münsing: The budget of 22 million euros is adhered to

According to treasurer Hubert Kühn, there will be no unpleasant surprises when it comes to costs.

The budget of 22 million euros set by the local council is being adhered to pretty closely, he says.

Especially because of this considerable sum, which increased from twelve million euros by eight million from the first estimate in 2018 to the start of construction three years later and then increased again due to the Ukraine crisis, there were protests and an announced citizens' initiative and a complaint to the Taxpayers' Association.

The event hall for up to 450 people is “gigantic”, the underground car park with 50 parking spaces is “monstrous”, complained the opponents.

Event hall offers space for 450 visitors

If you stand in the Pallaufsaal today, named after the former, demolished farm on the same site, it and the stage in the south seem large, but not oversized.

For readings or other events with a smaller audience, the hall can be made smaller using partition walls.

The height-adjustable stage offers space for an entire orchestra, it is great for performing theater, and it is very attractive for top-class guests - including Luise Kinseher on April 27th, says Grasl.

Not every location is likely to have such an attractive artist's wardrobe with a shower in the bathroom.

The “cook-and-chill” stainless steel kitchen for 120,000 euros is also of the finest quality.

On April 20th and 21st, brass musicians from all over Bavaria will be on stage for the first time to give their best in the competition at the invitation of the Münsing Music Band.

On these two days, anyone who is curious can get an idea of the optics and acoustics of the Pallaufsaal with free admission.

It's a real address.

For town hall boss Michael Grasl, the community center is unparalleled in the area.

Peter Hacker, the community's construction consultant, described the wide, open staircase from the hall to the ground floor as an “eye-catcher” during a tour of the shell of the building in the summer.

Because of the hillside location, the hall is lower.

In fact, the free-floating structure, which is reflected outside the building as an external staircase, is an eye-catcher.

The Munich architects Peck.Daam have made a statement here, as well as with the curtain made of wooden slats along the facade.

A building like the community center is unparalleled in the area.

“It’s a real address,” says Grasl.

Barrier-free thanks to the elevator

The spacious, light atmosphere with the walls and ceilings made of silver fir wood and the equally light floors continues on the ground floor.

The main entrance to the town hall is on the west side with the paved outdoor lounge area.

At the reception desk, which is also the citizens' office, customers and visitors are greeted by two employees.

To the left of it you can reach the offices with a lot of public traffic, such as the cash register or the residents' registration office.

A steel staircase - or a barrier-free elevator - leads up to the other town hall departments of construction, finance, management and mayor.

The high rooms under the roof with a light slit lie to the east and west of a hallway.

At the southern end it flows into the “well-being room” (Grasl), a lounge with a kitchen and balcony with the best mountain views.

An area next door is rented to a local sportswear manufacturer.

The meeting room also serves as a wedding ceremony room

The local council consciously decided at the time not to place the meeting room in the top south location, but rather to place it to the north towards the church.

“People should be able to see from outside when they drive by or walk past that there is a meeting going on here,” says Grasl.

The friendly hall with a glass front in the north will have an oval meeting table in the middle.

The 16 elected representatives will sit down for the first time in April - on stylish, anthracite-colored chairs that are already waiting in the basement for their use.

The sophisticated technology – heating, ventilation, IT, loudspeaker system – disappears completely behind the walls.

The white ceiling lamps, which hang down as elongated tubes, are simple and stylish at the same time.

The two caretakers Armin Hell and Stefan Huber ensure that all the high-tech works.

The meeting room also serves as a wedding ceremony room.

A smaller room right next door is intended for wedding parties of only about ten people.

The sparkling wine can be kept cold in a tea kitchen between the two alternatives.

With certainly plenty of it, the community wants to toast its new, first address with invited guests on Tuesday, May 7th.

Citizens may be given the opportunity to take a sightseeing tour as part of the town hall meeting planned for the summer.

As Michael Grasl stands on the still-to-be-landscaped square in front of the town hall gate after the tour, holding a modern transponder for locking and unlocking instead of an ordinary key, he muses that it is actually a shame that he will be retiring as town hall boss in 2026 .

But there will certainly be enough opportunities to visit the community center as a simple citizen of Münsingen.
