A 44-year-old woman was violently attacked while jogging on Sunday morning, in Saint-Nazaire, in Loire-Atlantique.
While the sun has not yet risen, she begins her day as usual with a sports race.
After 40 minutes, she notices that someone is following her.
She continues on her way.
Her route takes her past the seafront: it is at this place, at the intersection of Rue de Pornichet and Boulevard Albert I, that the individual she had spotted attacks her.
He grabs her by the neck with both hands, pulls her back into a bush, knocking her to the ground.
There was no contact of a sexual nature according to the complainant's account.
“I screamed,”
she told
Saint-Nazaire News
, to whom she gave her testimony.
However, it turns out that three young people on bikes had observed the jogger regularly turning around, as well as the man's strange behavior.
Hearing the screams, the three cyclists came to his aid.
One of them even tried to pursue, in vain, the attacker who had fled.
The police also came afterwards.

Open investigation
The forty-year-old filed a complaint,
a police source confirms to Le
Figaro .
An investigation was opened but no one has yet been found.
According to the information provided to the police, the wanted individual is a North African man, probably aged 18 to 25, who was wearing a tracksuit and a hood at the time of the incident.
In the columns of the local media, the traumatized woman says she agreed to give herself up for prevention:
“I want to testify and report my attack to warn other women and so that they pay attention,”
she confides, taking care to point out that she is not the only one to run so early, before 6 a.m.
About three kilometers from here, in December 2022, a 13-year-old girl was threatened with a knife and then raped on the beach of Bonne-Anse, still in Saint-Nazaire.
The suspect admitted the facts and was placed in pre-trial detention.
