The Korbinian year in Freising was supposed to be a year without construction sites in the city center.
It can already be said: It doesn't really work.
Freising
– Bahnhofstrasse in Freising was already closed at the weekend.
The reason for this, as explained at the most recent building committee meeting: The large crane on the Domberg had to be replaced with an even larger and more powerful crane for the construction site around the Cardinal Döpfner House.
It has not been possible to drive through since Friday.
There is also a long-term change coming to Bahnhofstrasse.
And that has something to do directly with the anniversary year and the state exhibition.
The public parking bays near the Caritas building will be closed and a bus stop for tourist buses will be set up there.
Guests coming to the state exhibition or anniversary events can then get off close to the city center and also close to the new Domberg elevator.
The cathedral elevator should be operational by the beginning of May at the latest
Speaking of the Domberg elevator: work is still going on there too, and according to Schulze, the work is progressing quickly.
And that's a good thing, after all they want to put the elevator into operation at the end of April, or at the beginning of May at the latest.
In the north-western old town, in the area of Jägerwirtsgasse, Kochbäckergasse and in Oberen Graben, the municipal utilities are laying out gas, water and electricity.
Because of the limited space here, accessibility is not that easy at this time.
“We have come up with a concept so that access to the construction sites is always possible,” said Schulze.
The measures will start soon and will take until November or even December to complete.
In order to ensure access from Johannisstrasse for residents even on market days, the market perimeter was, according to Schulze, “compressed”.
Start work on the trench
Power lines are to be replaced at the Middle and Lower Graben, a project that will take four to five weeks.
However, there is no exact date yet.
And then there are remaining works around the Asam, which still shape the cityscape.
Here Schulze said: “We are on the home stretch”.
