Big shock for little puppy: The Labrador girl was waiting in the back seat of an accident car.

While his owner was being treated in the hospital, he entertained the police officers.

This little Labrador lady got a big shock in a car accident near Bad Hersfeld in Hesse.

After her owner was taken to a nearby hospital, the young dog was forgotten in the car because of her excitement.

It was only when the accident was recorded that the officers noticed the black Labrador puppy in the back seat.

But there was no trace of fear anywhere in the little puppy girl named Lift.

Instead, the young dog greeted the police officers happily, writes the East Hesse police headquarters in a press release.

A service dog handler was immediately called in to provide the furry friend with the best possible care.

Treats and cuddles from the police for Labrador girls lift

While her owner received medical care, Lift had a good time at the police highway station.

So, of course, the sleuth picked up treats and cuddles at one workplace and another, the presidium also reveals.

Luckily, Lift's owner only suffered minor injuries in the accident and was able to hug his Labrador girl again at the police station that same evening.

The police said it was difficult for the employees to say goodbye.

They clearly enjoyed their time together with the trusting and playful puppy.

As a farewell there was a photo together with heartbreaker Lift.

“The police station employees will certainly remember this animal joy despite the traffic accident for a long time to come,” the statement concludes.

Traffic accident with a dog as a passenger – what do I have to consider?

If a car accident occurs with a dog in it, it can have serious consequences not only for the driver, but also for the animal.

While there are airbags, impact surfaces and deformation zones to ensure the safety of people in the car, four-legged friends are often left behind.

You can find out here what dog owners should keep in mind when driving.

If the four-legged friend has survived the accident largely uninjured, he should also wear a high-visibility vest after leaving the accident vehicle.

It therefore makes sense “if you put a high-visibility vest or a reflective safety cloth for your dog in the car in addition to your own safety vest,” advises

You can find out what you should do if your own dog or another dog has been injured in a traffic accident or you suspect something like this in the following overview:

  • If the dog is running around freely, you should first take him away from the scene of the accident and put him on a leash before a subsequent accident occurs.

Heavy and/or injured dogs should be pulled onto their side on a blanket or mat (e.g. the doormat from the car).

  • After placing the dog in the recovery position, examine the dog.

Are there any obvious life-threatening injuries?

  • Try to calm the dog.

But be careful: even the friendliest dogs can bite in such stressful situations.

Therefore, make sure you have enough self-protection.

If available, the dog should be given a muzzle or a sling.

  • A safety blanket either keeps the dog warm (gold side up) or can protect him from overheating in strong sunlight (silver side up).

  • Contact a veterinarian by telephone.

Find out whether the practice or veterinary clinic is open.

If possible, transport the dog to the vet as quickly as possible but very carefully.

If you are unable to drive yourself for various reasons, ask someone to take over.

  • As much as you love animals, always remember that caring for injured people always has priority.

You can only continue with the dog once everyone involved has been cared for and all emergency services have been alerted.
