Just one year after announcing an investment of 60 million euros to build a gunpowder manufacturing plant in Bergerac (Dordogne), Eurenco is ready to begin construction.
The laying of the first stone was to take place last week, in the presence of Sébastien Lecornu, the Minister of the Armed Forces.
It was postponed until logistical problems were resolved.
The European leader in powders and explosives, heir to the National Company of Powders and Explosives (SNPE), plans to enter service in 2025. The new factory will employ 150 people and produce 1,200 tonnes of powder per year, thus covering the needs of 500,000 modular charges, also manufactured by Eurenco, on behalf of Nexter, the manufacturer of the Caesar cannon.
