The 62-year-old man lost control of his vehicle near Vohenstrauß (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district), skidded and collided first with a truck and then with a guardrail, according to the police.
Despite his serious injuries, the driver was able to free himself from the vehicle and run away from the road.
He collapsed due to his injuries about 200 meters from the scene of the accident.
